The Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures promotes understanding of Pacific Rim nations and India. The nucleus of the museum is the collection of Corpus native Billie Trimble Chandler, who lived many years in Japan. Objects range from a five-foot bronze Buddha statue to a bikepowered Singapore taxi, from Japanese Hakata dolls to Chinese kites and Korean drums. The museum celebrates Asian holidays with music, dance and craft demonstrations.
