COMO LA FLOR

Known simply as "Selena" to her fans around the world, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez is Texas' own music superstar with seven number-one hits among 14 top-ten singles on the Top Latin Songs charts. Heralded by Billboard to be the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena became the best-selling Latin artist of the decade. Tragically, her singing career ended at 23 when the president of her fan club shot and killed her. Selena's influence would not end there, however, as her talent and fame inspired films, books, and a museum, breathing life into the mantra of fans everywhere who cry "Selena Forever." The Selena Museum, built by the Quintanilla family three years after her death in 1998, is a response to those dedicated fans who want to remember Selena and celebrate her life. Located in Corpus Christi, Selena's childhood city, the museum features her gold records, awards, performance wardrobe, and other memorabilia, providing a powerful tribute to the life of Texas' own Tejano Queen. A statue of Selena stands directly on the seawall of Corpus Christi Bay.
