Brownsville: Brownsville Museum of Fine Art

With its roots in the Brownsville Art League, formed in 1935 by a group of eight women with a passion for art, today's  Brownville Museum of Fine Art is a state-of-the-art facility with a permanent collection featuring works by renowned artists like Mark Chagall, James Whistler, N.C. Wyeth, Augustus John, and Alexander Calder. The Museum also maintains the 1834 Neale House, considered the city’s oldest frame house, as well as the original Fort Brown bandstand. Art classes, workshops, and lectures for adults and children are offered year-round, and the museum store offers elegant gifts to satisfy the most sophisticated tastes.
